Materials with large surface areas—such as sheet metal, panels, glass, wood panels, and composite panels—are the products that take up the most space in the warehouse and are most prone to damage. Sheets stacked on the floor get scratched, their edges get crushed, and all the sheets on top must be removed to access the one below. In laser cutting, bending, and furniture production, these waiting times directly result in machine downtime. The ICAM Maxi T is an automated tower system that stores these materials vertically in drawers and delivers the desired sheet to the operator.
How does Maxi T work?
It can be configured with a single tower or two towers facing each other. Inside the towers are large drawers that carry the sheets; an automatic elevator brings the desired drawer to the loading/unloading station. The drawer is unloaded at the station by a forklift, a vacuum lifter, or directly by the laser cutting line’s feeding system. The structure is a self-supporting steel framework that can be installed indoors or outdoors and can be expanded as a single unit or as multiple parallel units.

Benefits it provides
- Benefit: Vertical storage saves up to 90 percent of floor space; the space gained is redirected to production.
- Material protection: Closed system; the panels are scratch-resistant and protected from moisture and dust.
- Speed: The desired sheet arrives at the station within seconds; the process of removing the sheets on top is complete.
- Safety: The operator does not work under heavy panels; forklift traffic is reduced.
- Integration: ERP/WMS connection; can operate in sync with a laser cutting or bending line.
Who is it for?
Laser and plasma cutting shops, sheet metal fabrication and metal service centers, furniture and wood panel manufacturers, facilities processing glass and composite panels, and the home appliance and automotive supply industries. As the variety of sheets (thickness, material, dimensions) increases, the advantages of the Maxi T grow, because each type is stored in a separate drawer where it can be identified and tracked.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it be connected directly to a laser cutting machine?
Yes. The loading and unloading station can be designed to integrate with the cutting line’s automatic feeding system or a vacuum lifter; the line layout is drawn up together during the design phase.
What sheet metal sizes will fit?
Drawer interior dimensions are available in two sizes to accommodate standard 3,000 × 1,500 and 4,000 × 2,000 mm sheets.
